The making of the bridge began on December 7, 2014, by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited. By May 2022, the entire construction was finished. On June 25 of that year, it was opened to the public with an inauguration from Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The two-level steel truss bridge is 6.15 kilometres in length and 18.10 metres wide, comprising a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single railway track on the lower level. All expenses for the project are estimated to be US 3.868 Billion (Including taxes and IT).
